HERITAGE HAY DAY 2008

On Saturday the 18th October 2008 the Gnowangerup Heritage Group held their Hay Cutting exhibition on lan McDonald's farm located opposite the Gnowangerup Sporting Complex.
A perfect location for the exhibition, it provided a location within walking distance and the main street
There was a great range of old farm machinery and vintage cars which were a great hit with the young and old. An old Model T ford proved to be a crowd favourite again, as well as the hay balers and the never ending array of vintage tractors and machinery which was provided by many keen collectors.

You were able to purchase T-shirts, books as well as some other great merchandise. Some of these products are still available from the Historical Centre so either call in an see Helen Harris or speak to one of the committee members. They make great presents or collectors items.
Gnowangerup's famous lamb burgers, sausages and drinks kept the crowd fed and watered on the day and 2 x $100 raffles and tools were up for grabs.
Dick Garnett entertained the crowd when he got his V8 tractor out and did some donuts. This seemed to please the spectators and also Dick, who didn't need much encouragement the old dare devil.
It was a great day for everyone who participated and attended; the weather proved to be on our side and coincided with the Garden Walk just nicely. We thank everyone for their support.
The money raised will go back into the Heritage Group for future projects.
We would like to extend a big thank you to the Albany Vintage Car Group who travelled to Gnowangerup to show of their own piece of history.
This is much appreciated. We look forward to seeing you at the next Hay Day!”
